All along, Orplid have showcased a unique mixture of romantic folklore with neo-classical elements and German poetry. While acoustic Neofolk may have been the strongest influence on their music in the early days of their career, samples and electronic elements have always found their way into the duo's compositions. The third album "Sterbender Satyr" (2006) marks a change in the band's discography - for the first time, orchestral samples and minimal electronics are a much stronger feature of the music. In Orplid's lyrics, Christian symbolism, Pagan thoughts, and mythic origins appear alongside settings of poems by defining writers such as Friedrich von Schiller or Frank Wedekind. Since 1997, holistic works of word, sound, and image are created in this manner, celebrating the beauty of music, language, and visual arts.
